The Company

CS Energy is a Queensland Government owned energy provider with a unique mix of technology and an innovative approach that is powered by experienced, skilled and talented people. CS Energy strives to deliver a sustainable and commercially viable future for our organisation, our employees and the people of Queensland.

CS Energy’s generating portfolio includes the 1,720 megawatt (MW) coal-fired Callide Power Station near Biloela in Central Queensland, the 750 MW Kogan Creek Power Station near Chinchilla in South West Queensland, and the 500 MW pumped storage hydro electric Wivenhoe Power Station near Esk in South East Queensland.

A key element in CS Energy’s business strategy is the development of low emission coal technology, such as the Callide Oxyfuel Project and Kogan Creek Solar Boost Project.

Role in Callide Oxyfuel Project

CS Energy has played a lead role in the Callide Oxyfuel Project since the beginning of the project. Most importantly, the oxyfuel demonstration is taking place at CS Energy’s Callide A Power Station in central Queensland.

Callide A Power Station is like our real-life laboratory – proving we can start to use clean coal technology at an industrial scale. The next challenge is scaling it up to a plant the size of our Kogan Creek Power Station.

Key Facts

1. CS Energy has recently launched the Kogan Creek Solar Boost Project, which will see solar technology applied to Kogan Creek Power Station, to pre-heat the water going into the power station’s boiler, thus improving the thermal efficiency of the plant.
